Call about Havoc, The Iron Trial

Havoc is the chaos-ridden pet wolf of Call, and eventually Tamara and Aaron's as well.

History[]

The Iron Trial[]

Callum found him as a small pup in the woods surrounding the Magisterium, just after Aaron Stewart made a pack of chaos-ridden wolves disappear into the void with his chaos magic. The pup sneakily followed Call, and when it finally got his attention, Call was enamored. Call impulsively took the pup and snuck him into the Magisterium, keeping him in his room as a pet and named him Havoc. When Tamara Rajavi and Aaron found out about him, they were initially scared but eventually softened up to him, with the two even volunteering to take turns taking care of the wolf.

Much later, Havoc helped Tamara and Call rescue Aaron from Drew and Joseph, leading them to the hideout and helping defeat the chaos elemental.

The Copper Gauntlet[]

Alastair Hunt, Call's father, did not like the wolf when Call brought him home, viewing him as a Chaos-ridden monster. He had Mrs. Tisdale kidnap Havoc and put him in the basement while he and Call were out watching a movie. Call was distraught by this, and Alastair offered to help him look for Havoc despite knowing exactly where he was.

Call found Havoc chained up later that night, along with shackles that would fit Call and an image of the Alkahest. Realizing that his father knew that Call had Constantine Madden's soul, he ran away with his wolf after knocking Alastair out.

The pair ended up at Tamara's house, where there was a party going on, with Tamara and Aaron (who had been staying with the Rajavis) in attendance. When they reunited, Havoc was very happy to see Aaron, which the crowd misinterpreted as Aaron using his Makar talents to calm the wolf. This irritated Call somewhat, as he had been the one to raise and train Havoc, who was perfectly tame for him.

When they all returned to the Magisterium for another year of school, Call quickly found out that the Alkahest was powered by the heart of a chaos-ridden beast, which was why his father had kidnapped Havoc. At this time, it was thought that the Alkahest was going to be used to kill Aaron, so when Call confessed that it was his father who had tried to steal it earlier that year, Tamara immediately told Master Rufus, betraying Call's trust. When Alastair succeeded in stealing the Alkahest, Call went after his father to prove his innocence, bringing Havoc, Tamara, Aaron, and, accidentally, Jasper deWinter.

The first stop on their trip was to Mrs. Tisdale's barn, where Alastair kept his various old cars. This was when they learned that it was her who had hidden Havoc for Alastair, and when they encountered the elemental Automotones, who attacked the children and Havoc.

After that stop, they knew where Alastair would be meeting with Master Joseph, on an island in Maine, and drove there in one of Alastair's better working cars. Along the way, they were found and captured by the Magisterium's teachers, but they managed to escape via breaking the rusty floor pan of the car and using air magic. The group rested after that, being exhausted from the magic they had used. During this time, a swarm of chaos-ridden humans converged on the group, coming to find Call, who they still viewed as Constantine. Shortly after, Call ordered the human chaos-ridden to stay put and realized that Havoc obeyed with them.

During the destruction of the Enemy's tomb, Havoc escaped and rejoined Alastair, Tamara, Aaron and Jasper.

The Bronze Key[]

Havoc spent the summer with Call, Aaron, and Alastair, although he did not come to the celebration of the Enemy's death. Alastair didn't trust the Assembly around a chaos-ridden wolf. He was right to do so; at a meeting that took place during the event, Assemblyman Graves suggested that all Chaos-ridden animals be destroyed. Callum was quick to defend Havoc however, and got him exempted.

The wolf returned to the Magisterium with the children, where he stayed for the rest of the school year. Alex Strike claimed to have seen him and Tamara being kidnapped to lure out Call and Aaron, but this was untrue and they came to the rescue of their friends. Despite this, it was too late. Aaron was hit by the Alkahest modified to turn Alex into a Makar, and Call accidentally revealed himself as the Enemy of Death, being taken away to the Panopticon and separated from his wolf.

Physical appearance[]

Havoc's appearance changes quite a bit through out the series. At first, he was a wolf pup that was small enough to fit inside Call's jacket without the latter looking strange enough to be noticed. However he soon grew far past the size of a regular dog or wolf. When Havoc was Chaos-ridden, he had swirling, multi-color eyes. But when the chaos inside of Havoc was forcibly removed, the wolf's eyes turned green and gold. Havoc's fur is black; although this textual information is contradicted on The Copper Gauntlet's cover, which shows Havoc with gray fur.
