Jasper deWinter is a Japanese-American mage in the same year as Callum Hunt and the others. He is an apprentice under Master Milagros.
Biography
Early life
Jasper was born to an Asian mother and an American father. A legacy, Jasper comes from a long line of mages who lost their fortune and reputation in the Second Mage War. Because of this, Jasper is intent on helping his family regain their good name by becoming the best mage of his time.
He and fellow young mage Tamara Rajavi are childhood friends.
The Iron Trial
Coming to the Iron Trial when he was twelve, he hoped to be chosen by Master Rufus, whom he considered the most prestigious Master at the Magisterium. Unfortunately, he was not, instead Callum Hunt being chosen. He thus became enemies with Hunt and his rivalry started. However, in chapter 21, of the book, Jasper saves Hunt, probably later in the series, becoming friends.
Personality
He is very persistent at being good at magic, so much as to abusing Celia's patience. He hates the fact that Call obtained "his spot" on Rufus's apprentice list. He hates Call even more when he realizes Call never wanted to take "his spot", much less become a mage at all. He loves making snide comments toward Call, though one happened to have upset Tamara. Little is known if they have had a temporary truce or not, but he did have the patience to give Call a gift at the end of the book for his actions.
