The Second Mage War was a war between two factions of mages. Little is known about it, but it resulted in the Industry Laws and the formation of the Assembly, the mages' governing body.

The Industry Laws dictate that it is illegal for a mage to make money off of magic. It is unclear what the restrictions on this are, but they were severe enough to run many families to bankruptcy. One notable family who had this happen to the is the deWinters, who hoped to regain influence through their son, Jasper deWinter.
