Tamara Rajavi is a mage, an apprentice at the Magisterium currently in her Copper Year with Callum Hunt and Aaron Stewart, under the tutelage of Master Rufus.
Biography
Early life
Tamara is Muslim of Iranian descent who was born in America.[1][2][3] She is a legacy, a child of two Assembly members whose expectations of them exceed their own and are, thus, put under constant pressure. She is the youngest in the family, having two older sisters: Kimiya and Ravan.
Her sister Ravan died because of her practices at the Magisterium; her death led to Tamara not wanting to cheat or cut corners as her sister did.
Tamara is also friends, or an acquaintance, of fellow legacy mage Jasper deWinter.
First year
At twelve years old, it was finally time for Tamara to go to the Magisterium, just a year after her sister, Kimiya. She undertook the Iron Trial, wherein Tamara was ranked first in her year, along with Aaron. She was then one of the three Iron Year mages chosen by Master Rufus, considered one of the most prestigious Masters, to become his apprentice, along with Aaron and Call, who, in contrast to her and Aaron, ranked last on the scoring list. While at the Gallery, Kimiya lectures Tamara on wasting her time hanging out, not studying. Tamara gets along with Aaron instantly, but later becomes friends with Call.
When it becomes apparent that Aaron is lost or kidnapped, Tamara and Call go out to search for him. They follow Havoc to a large building with a sign that said Mountain Bowling. There, Tamara and Call rescued Aaron from Drew, who was going to feed Aaron to a chaos elemental. Aaron and Tamara escaped, leaving Call inside. They tear the roof down to rescue him, by knocking the bowling alley sign down.
Rufus then takes Call, Aaron and Tamara, to The First Gate where they all pass through.
Second year
Aaron stayed at Tamara's house, a big mansion called the Gables, Arlington, Virginia. Call arrived during a magical party. Tamara tells us that she goes to a lot of these. He stayed there for the rest of their summer break with Tamara, Aaron, Alex, and the Rajavis. Once it was over, the kids happily returned to the Magisterium.
When Call goes off to warn his father about the mages hunting him, Tamara and Aaron go with him willingly, and bring Jasper along so as not to give their plan away.
When they reached the property that Alastair has rented for his collection of dilapidated cars, Tamara and the others were attacked by Automotones, a dangerous metal elemental from the Magisterium, and though Aaron managed to defeat it, they realized that they would not be safe at the Magisterium. With clues from the barn that might lead to Alastair, the group continued on their journey. They drove halfway to the coordinates sent by Master Joseph to his father, encountering their Magisterium Masters at one point and receiving a call from Rufus himself in another.
One night, a horde of Chaos-ridden people arrived and expressed their allegiance to Call. Tamara is shocked when she finds out Call's true identity—and about having Constantine's soul in him. She is scared and confused, but decides to continue on. The Chaos-ridden, under Call's orders, led them to Joseph.
Found on the island specified by the coordinates is Constantine's tomb. Tamara is sad when she discovers the head of their last Makar guarding the doorway. Tamara waits upstairs while Call ventures down, but later comes down to help fight Joseph. During the chaos, Alastair killed and destroyed Constantine's preserved body with the Alkahest. Chaos ridden surrounded them, and Call attempted to protect his friends by using his new chaos magic for the first time. Because of the amount of power he released, the tomb collapsed. They all make it out alive as the tomb collapses.
Immediately after, the Magisterium Masters arrived and brought them all back to the Magisterium for judgment. There, they were faced by a panel of Assembly members and Magisterium Masters who chastised them for their actions. Tamara is disgraced in front of her parents, to her embarrassment. When Call gives proof of their story, and that Constantine is dead, the group became instant celebrities, with news of their victory, the death of the Enemy, and thus the end of the war, spreading through the school fast.
Tamara reluctantly agrees to keep Call's secret, though she had her doubts.
While having a bath, Tamara realizes Call is in there and questions why he lied to them about his identity. They talk, and end up promising not to keep any secrets from each other again. It ends with them in a good mood with a strong friendship.
