  • Major Spoilers for the last 3 books!!!

    Read at your own risk.

So at the end of The Bronze Key Aaron dies. In the Silver Mask, Callum brings him back, but not quite right and he then sacrifices himself to save Call. He ends up in Call’s head, and in The Golden Tower, Call pushes Aaron’s soul into Alex’s body.

I know the lines of morality for our protagonist are blurry to say the least, and Alex wasn’t exactly a good person (or even a person at this point), but this feels very wrong to me. Especially the fact that Tamara and Call just go with it so quickly. Their friend is in someone else’s body, and they don’t seem to have a problem with that. I have a problem with that.

    Discuss.

    • It felt very weird that the book concluded with Aaron in Alex's body. I think it was done to show that there are consequences to the decisions they made, while also having Aaron survive. Call and Aaron also do comment on the fact that it is not a good thing to do by any means.

Regardless of that, I love the scene at the end of the book when they go through the gate and it parralels the end of the iron trial. That would have really only been possible if Aaron was brought back.

    • I would have acctuly prefered Aaron to be perminetly dead(I know, unpopular oppinion!),  the fact that he has been brought back so many times kinda takes away from the sacrifices that they have all made for the missions.

Also, how are that Adults not questioning the imediate friendship between them, Tamara and Call didnt realy know Alex before the whole evil stuff and then he comes back and then boom, their best friends and there calling Alex Arron. Dosent anyone get suspicious??

I suppose this loose end means that there can be a sequal where they can put him in another body or something.

I liked bringing him back in Silver Mask, and I liked him being in Call’s head, but I don’t think they should have brought him back in the end. I feel like after he realized that what he did in Silver Mask was wrong, that Call and Tamara, who was against bringing him back in Silver Mask, wouldn’t bring him back.

    • As much as Aaron being in Cal's head was interesting and new, it is what seems to have gotten us some of the weird stuff in the book. The opening of the blockage from the 'real' evil wizard who Cal's soul belongs to the kiss beteen Tamara and Cal while Aaron was sharing Cal's head to the soul tapping into Alex's body.

I hate to say it because Aaron was a great character before he died, but bringing him back in the way the they did caused more harm than good.

As for a sequel, I don't think it will happen. It's a sad truth, but the authors haven't said anything about writing more in this universe and the fan base is so small. Even if there is a sequel, Cal and Aaron promised not to soul tap anymore and Aaron's body is in the chaos realm.

    • I mostly agree with you.

    • I know, as much as the fans would love it, there has been no talk of a sequal. Maybe in a few years they might consider it but it is unlikley at this point. I think that they have left it open so that they can write another series if they ever want to in the future.

    • I really hope that they write another book in the magisterium universe.

    • i agree. nasty stuff.

It would have been cool if they turned him into a devoured of soul- i know it's supposed to be imposssible, but still...

    • That be interesting; seeing him, a soul devoured, going up against Alex, a chaos devoured.
